The Appeal

The W111 and W110 set the template for Mercedes-Benz’ post-war saloons: cars that looked boxy, handsome and above all sober, yet concealed some clever innovations and flashes of design genius. The latter gave these cars their affectionate nickname - the Heckflosse, or ‘fintail,’ a nod to their incorporation of contemporary North American design themes.
Beneath the boxy bodywork were clever safety features like front and rear crumple zones. A huge array of 6cyl (W111) and 4cyl (W110) engines broadened the appeal from taxi drivers to captains of industry.
All of which explains the appeal of these cars to enthusiasts. Looking at this lovely ‘65 190C it is easy to understand. It is an older restoration by specialists Silchester Garage, finished in classic white over burgundy. Thanks to the quality of that work and sparing use it remains in very good order, certainly perfect for a trip to the Goodwood Revival where it would fit right in. That big cabin, with its thick cushioning seats, looks very comfortable.
With few miles since  servicing work and attention to the carburettors, brakes and fuel system, it is ready to use and enjoy.
