The Appeal
The Pagoda is rightfully praised as one of the '60s bonafide design masterclasses. Subtle curves, fishbowl headlights and that distinctive concave top all made for a smart, understated and undeniably elegant roadster. Everything about it was so gently detailed, so subtly featured, so beautifully complex yet paradoxically simple - and over-engineered to a point of excess, with a build quality that defied many other manufacturers in Europe.
A good example of the Pagoda is about as desirable as it gets. These cars still command remarkable attention and are bound to turn heads at car shows - while still being capable on the modern network, and eminently drivable.
This nicely presented example comes to us following a comprehensive restoration, with a refreshed cabin and an engine upgrade. Complete with a new soft top, hard top and over £80,000 of invoices.image.png4.22 MB
Bare metal respray completed within the past 5 years
Attractive deep blue livery
Some swirling has bedded in, most likely from polishing
All new chrome work, casting a bright contrast
4 new white wall tyres New soft top and hard top
All new cream leather interior
No sign of any rips or tears
All instruments are clear and legible
Floors are solid and well-presented
The Pagoda is already a very fine-looking car - but in a livery like this, it positively exudes class and comfort. The palatial midnight blue contrasts beautifully with the cream leather, and creates a startlingly pretty car from top to tyres. Everything looks nice and solid, and we're fairly confident that the polishing swirls will be fairly easy to bring up to full shine.
The cabin is in good order, with lovely plush leather and only gentle patina on the dash and interior chromework to speak of. The carpets and boot are clean and well-presented and, from what we can discern, everything is working as it should. image.png3.29 MB
The Mechanics
Upgraded with a reconditioned 2.5-litre engine
4-speed manual gearbox
Engine bay in excellent order
We've no reports of any mechanical issues
The car is reportedly starting, shifting, braking and driving correctly
The standard Pagoda was no slouch - but this one is a little faster and tougher than it was rolling out of the factory, thanks to its upgraded engine. We understand the car to be in fine working order, and we've no reports of any mechanical faults. The vendor particularly highlights the gearbox, which is purportedly very smooth and perfect for the open road. image.png4.7 MB
