The Appeal
For 1960s buyers after a city commuter and classic enthusiasts seeking a stylish scooter, there was and is only one answer: a Lambretta. Brilliant handling and decent acceleration make any Lambretta a hoot. That they are comfortable, too, makes them perfect for longer rides.
Later bikes, like this LI, introduced the slim style that turned these scooters into design icons. Looking at this lovely ‘65 LI 125, we can almost hear the rat-tat-tat of its engine, smell the two-stroke, and see the signs marked ‘Brighton Beach.’
This is due to its remarkable condition, the result of a £5,000 restoration that was commissioned when the vendor bought this bike in 2012. It has covered just 140 miles since, delivering to the buyer a desirable LI125 that is virtually brand new.
Together with its neat extras like the chrome luggage rack, spare wheel and even a period correct tax disc, this superb scooter would make a great addition to any collection.
The vendor tells us:
“It is a stunning bike that will put a big smile on your face. I just haven’t got time to enjoy her.”

Looks to be a genuine careful restoration with attention to detail obvious. If I was a bit younger I’d buy her.
