The Appeal
It began life as an off the production line K-code new shell delivered to the legendary Wood Brothers USA to replace the car that got damaged in Texas in period by AJ Foyt and Dale Wood. The car then stayed in storage until the Wood Brothers decided to rebuild it into the car it is now six years ago when Jon Miles bought it as a fully prepared racing car before arriving in the UK in 2019. Since then it has been raced successfully by Jon Miles, Dave Coyne and Mark Wright.
Since then it has been campaigned by well known and highly regarded racers Jon Miles and Dave Coyne in series such as Masters, HRDC and Silverstone Classic. Its performance and their skill delivered fastest laps and several race wins.
So it has proper provenance. It was overhauled in 2024 and brought up to full race specification including engine, gearbox and differential modifications and additional weight reduction. The engine was rebuilt by Steve Warrior in the same year.
The belts, fire system and seat are in date for 2025 racing and the lights have been upgraded for Spa 6hr race. The car comes to market with FIA papers to December 2033 and a useful spares package.
This is one hugely capable and historically significant racer. Buy it for the provenance and the performance.
The vendor says:
"This car is a iconic race car, never used as a road car. This shell was built by the Wood Brothers, USA and stored from the period of the one that was crashed. Intention to rebuild it 66/67 period but got shelved and recreated by the Wood Brothers in America when Jon purchased it to race in England with the help of Alan Mann Racing to UK FIA specification. The car itself is fantastic historic vehicle to race and capable of winning within various race series."
