Highlights
- Early ‘65 Mustang, beautifully specified
- Desirable 200bhp 4.7L 289CI C-Code V8
- Recent £5,000 in maintenance and new parts
The Appeal
The Mustang was an immediate hit - and had already catapulted itself into the public consciousness by 1965, but that uniquely petrol-headed crowd was a crowd that wanted the best of the best, so Ford lined up plenty of upgrades and personalisation options during the car's lifespan - indeed, it's a tradition they're still carrying today.
This early '65 'Notchback' is a key example. The original buyer back in '65 clearly had discerning taste, packing the car with the highly desirable C-Code 289Ci 4.7-Litre V8. That's good for 200bhp, and firmly places the pony car into very muscular territory. It's hard to imagine just how many people it's impressed in its time!
Sympathetically restored in recent years, the gunmetal livery and burgundy cabin are still remarkably evocative, and presented in good overall condition. Over £5,000 has been spent in recent years.
