The Appeal
Since its initial launch, way back in late 1964 at the World’s Fair, the Ford Mustang has been a massive hit with the motoring public, and still is today.
One of the most famous and well-known cars in the world, the ford Mustang has become a legend and represents a time in the history of American motoring just perfectly being the ultimate piece of motoring Americana and is ‘the’ iconic American classic car.
This is a beautiful and original example, imported from the dry state of California in 2018, that has been very nicely mechanically prepared and which has not been subject to any restoration
The History and Paperwork
• First registered in 1975
• Dry-stored for over 30 years
• Imported from California in 2018
• Current owner purchased it in 2018
• V5c present showing only 2 UK owners
• 2 keys and handbook
• Spare wheel and jack
Since purchase the current owner has used the car infrequently and kept the car warm and dry in his garage. Storage space has now become an issue and he is now reluctantly offering the car up for auction.
The Interior
• Fabulous Pony motif seats
• Air conditioning
• Excellent condition throughout
• Original AM radio
• Grant wooden steering wheel
Finished in Rangoon Red, the mostly original interior is looking very good, with new carpets and excellent deluxe Pony seats with all original dashboard, headlining and door-cards.
This is a wonderful car to sit in, with a sporty five-dial dash displaying fuel, oil pressure, water-temperature and battery voltage.
There is no sun damage or any cracks to the dashboard and it’s great to see the car still has its original radio, creating an excellent original and classic interior.
The air conditioning unit has recently been replaced and all the heater, fan, vents and wipers all work just fine, with all windows being nice and clear and rolling up and down smoothly and easily.
The Exterior
• Lovely Poppy Red paintwork
• Original wheels with good tyres
• All original body panels
• Good chrome all round
The Poppy Red paintwork is in excellent condition with only a crack to the roof losing it a mark or two.
The original wheels need some TLC to bring them up to the condition of the rest of the car, but all sit on recent new rubber and the rest of the car presents extremely well, with great shut lines and integrity from all angles.

The Mechanics
• Re-built 5.7 Litre V8, automatic transmission
• New shock absorbers
• New 2.5” Powerflow exhaust
• New brakes
The recently rebuilt 289ci V8 runs beautifully, providing plenty of performance having high compression pistons, a mild lift camshaft, an Edelbrock Performer 2 aluminium inlet manifold, and Holley twin-choke carburettors.
Power steering and a very smooth automatic transmission make this an easy and great fun car to drive, sounding superb courtesy of that 2.5” Powerflow exhaust system.
MOT exempt, the car comes with a valid MOT until September this year, procured with no advisories.
The Summary
The first generation Ford Mustang will remain a firm favourite with car enthusiasts the world over.
It represents a time when V8 muscle cars were the new best thing and the iconic Mustang is a car that will never go out of fashion always ensuring a strong demand for them, especially the early V8’s, and especially the really nice unrestored examples like this one.
