The Appeal
It’s impossible to overstate the societal impact of the Volkswagen Beetle. What’s so remarkable about the world’s favourite people’s car, is that in spite of its simplicity, the Beetle was and remains wholly unconventional. With an air-cooled flat-four engine situated aft and a strong curved bodyshell, a staggering 21.5 million Beetles were sold and they remain popular classics to this day.
Here we have a well preserved 1964 example that we’re informed was restored some years ago. Finished in a striking shade of purple, this Beetle is in very good condition for its age, with some attractive patina that it has accrued in recent years. It’s well presented inside and out, with smart upholstery, straight bodywork and a seemingly solid chassis. If you’re looking for a classic Volkswagen, we think this desirable early example would be a great option.
