1964 Triumph Tiger Cub

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • Offered in very good running and riding condition
  • Recently re-registered with the DVLA
  • Pleasingly patinated and commendably original

The Appeal

Designed by the great Edward Turner, the Triumph Tiger Cub proved an immensely popular learner bike. It was a very attractive proposition to new riders, as it looked, sounded and rode like Triumph’s full-size offerings. Seasoned riders also recognised the lightweight Tiger Cub’s potential for offroad trials and scrambling events.
Today, original survivors are exceedingly desirable and here we have one such example from 1964 which is in fantastic overall conditioning while exhibiting a pleasing patina. The vendor informs us that it runs well and is ready for the road now that they’ve re-registered it with the DVLA. Benefiting from road tax and MOT exemption due to its age, this Triumph is a very appealing proposition.

The History and Paperwork

  • Re-registered by the vendor
  • Not used extensively during present ownership, although reportedly in good running order
  • MOT and road tax exempt

The Condition

  • Smart period-correct paint scheme
  • The paint remains very glossy and is free from notable flaws
  • No dents visible to the fuel tank, oil tank or mudguards
  • Some deterioration to the right-hand handlebar grip
  • The pegs are not excessively worn
  • The seat remains usable, with some light tarnishing
  • The chromework has accrued some age-commensurate patina but remains very presentable
  • No signs of damage or heavy corrosion to the frame

The Mechanics

  • 200 cc four-stroke OHV single
  • Four-speed gearbox
  • We’re informed that the bike starts readily, runs well and rides correctly
