The Appeal
The wonderful Bonneville T120C is a truly brilliant machine, with a powerful engine and wonderful handling for its day, it is a real head turner. Few of the T120C were made, only 227 in fact, and all of them were exported to the USA. This example is exceedingly rare and is believed to be one of only three in the UK. It is ridden regularly and and kept to the absolute highest standard by its keeper, and was featured in The Classic Motorcycle magazine in 2022.
The History and Paperwork
- V5 present.
- This lovely bike was manufactured in 1964 and exported to the USA from the factory.
- Factory records confirm the engine and frame numbers to be matching and correct.
- This exceptionally rare motorcycle was imported back to the UK in 2003
- The current keeper is the only UK owner and has owned the motorcycle since 2005.
- After 11 years of regular use the bike was treated to a complete strip down and a full engine rebuild and period correct restoration by the Legendary Ian Williets in 2015, his racing motorcycles can be seen at Goodwood. This fine motorcycle was then shown at the Bristol Bike Show in 2016 and has been regularly ridden ever since.
- Large collection of MOT certificates present, along with an owners manual, workshop manual, and 1965 Triumph replacement parts catalogue, along with some excellent photos from the rebuild.
The Condition
- This is truly an exceptional machine, having had a full restoration carried out to a very high standard with the paint completely resprayed in the original colour of Pacific Blue, this bike is a real head turner.
- The condition throughout is stunning, with the frame in wonderful shape and no
- corrosion present, mudguards clean and free of any dents and in their wonderful
- Silver paint and pacific blue stripe down the centre.
- All of the brightwork is very clean and well polished and cared for, there are only very
- light blemishes from regular use, but by no means bad to look at at all.
- The forks and gaiters are sublime, and the gaiters clean and free from nicks and tears.
- The lovely chrome headlight unit is in wonderful order, and all light lenses are clean and free from cracks or damage.
- The wheels and spokes are brand new and also in wonderful shape, with no damage or dings, all spokes are straight and true and all is well polished and free from corrosion. The tyres are also very good and have lots of tread left.
- A brilliant addition is the period correct and very rare VDO Enduro speedometer, with a trip that can be moved forward or backward for rally use.
- The level of attention to detail is utterly superb, and clearly no expense has been spared on the bikes upkeep, as evidenced by the excellent condition despite regular use.
The Mechanics
- Mechanically the bike is superb, and a complete engine rebuild was carried out to the highest standard by Ian Williets.
- The crank was balanced, new pistons fitted, new carbs, and everything that needed to be done was done, no corners were cut with this superb rebuild and the bike starts on the first kick.
- Everything is absolutely period correct with the exception of conversion over to 12V electrics. Even the period correct 6V horn is in its proper location with a 12V version hidden away under the tank.
- All of the mechanical components are in sublime condition, the engine is in perfect shape and there are no damaged fins or casings.
- Overall a truly flawless machine mechanically. The pinnacle of the classic British motorcycle experience.
Summary
This incredible, head turning, magazine featured Bonnie is not one to be missed. Looked after with incredible care, and restored to the highest standard, this very rare machine is an investment grade motorcycle, built to be enjoyed for many years to come and in a condition that makes it truly collectable.
