The Appeal
Phelon & Moore is a classic example of those clever, innovative British bike manufacturers that got swept aside by the dramatic changes wrought in the industry during the 1960s.
The firm’s Panthers were defined by their canted ‘sloper’ engines, which were stressed parts of the frame. This was an innovation patented by the firm as far back as 1900. The M120 was the final evolution of an illustrious line, a 28bhp ‘heavyweight’ that was comfortable, quick and economical.
All those qualities, plus the firm’s illustrious reputation, make Panthers, particularly the M120, sought after by collectors. This low mileage one is quite the find.
It remained with its first owner to autumn 2023. During his tenure it was comprehensively restored, including a full engine rebuild by a former Panther engineer. Confirmed as a matching numbers bike by the Panther Owners Club and with a huge history file, this is a beautifully presented example of an equally attractive and appealing bike.
