The Appeal
Nimble, compact and characterful, the Midget is a perfect representation of what made MG's sports car line such an unfettered, international success. The characterful aesthetics, perky performance and simple mechanics of the Midget were always bound to resonate.
With its A-Series engine, and weighing in at just three-quarters of a ton, the Midget was in effect the legendary Mini's open-topped, rear-wheel-drive sibling. They were fun, they were stylish, and if you fancied a hill climb, bob's your uncle. The MK2 introduced such mod cons (!) as door locks and wind-up windows, along with quarter lights and suspension improvements - without sacrificing that character for even a second.
This 1994 Midget MK2 has been meticulously restored and maintained, and was only recently completed by a reputable MG restorer. The car boasts a new red interior, new brakes, and a clean, rust-free chassis painted in Dove grey. The vendor is pleased to report that the engine starts first time, runs smoothly, and pulls strongly with good oil pressure.
With an advisory-free MOT valid until July 2025, this Midget is ready to be enjoyed on the open road. If you've never been behind the wheel of one of these, it's a perfect opportunity.
