1964 Lotus 7 S2

Highlights

  • No compromise rebuild on new chassis
  • Race prepared - ideal for Circuits, Hills and Sprints
  • Built for performance
  • 30 miles since completion

The Appeal

A rare opportunity to acquire this no expense spared, specially built S2.
Originally acquired in 2013 to be a third string race car it was entrusted to Matt King of Motor Racing Medics Ltd, the leading Formula Junior preparation company. They were charged with a no compromise rebuild, with no cost limits, and an emphasis on safety and performance.
The decision was taken rebuild the car around a new chassis supplied by Arch Motors (of Huntingdon) to S2 spec. Arch supplied all the original Lotus 7’s chassis.
This would make a fantastic track day car or for use in historic races and events.

The History and Paperwork

  • Recently completed and ready for action
  • V5 present, first road registered in 1985
  • Very high specification build throughout
  • MOT exempt

The Interior

  • No frills interior
  • Race prepared
  • Superb throughout

They have followed Colin Chapman’s mantra of ‘less is more’ in the cockpit, but everything you need to go extremely fast is there, presented very simply in front of you.
Ready for club racing with full harness seat belts and eligible for HSCC racing, what more do you need?

The Exterior

  • Painted in glorious Lotus Racing Green and Black
  • Superb finish and detail
  • Built for action
  • Currently on new track tyres

A very beautiful silhouette the Super Seven is as sleek and light as a super model but with a traditional and classic twist from an era of old.
The paintwork and panels and in fact everything is completely new and prepared to an incredibly high finish and standard using only the very best components throughout.
The black wheels, windscreen surround, anti-roll bars, and black running gear and lights give the car a real ‘I mean business” look about it, and it surely does.

The Mechanics

  • Brand new frame/skin fully rewired
  • Lightweight caliper mounts and lightweight Ford PCD hubs
  • Elan/2000E gearbox
  • Twin Weber 40s
  • Derrington inlet manifolds

The 105E engine was entrusted to George Wadsworth, leading formula junior and twin cam engine builder. As you can see from the photos the car has been finished to an exceptional standard, complete with new aluminium panels. With no deviation to outright performance and build quality the end result is a super stunning Super Seven.

Summary

Having only covered 30 road miles since completion, this car would make a fine addition to any Lotus collection as a very competitive entry into Historic road sports or historic Lotus hill climbs and sprint championships, or perhaps simply to be enjoyed on the open road.
