Highlights
- Right-hand drive 3.8-litre example with a manual gearbox and overdrive
- Upgraded with a 123 electronic ignition system and stainless steel exhaust
- Recently subject to a comprehensive mechanical overhaul
- Has spent most of its life in the dry climate of South Africa - exported from new and repatriated in May 2021
The Appeal
Offered alongside the Mark 2, the Jaguar S-Type was pitched as a more luxurious alternative, with increased rear passenger headroom, a bigger boot and most notably, independent rear suspension from the Mark X.
This early example was exported to South Africa when new, remaining there until 2021 when it returned to the UK - undoubtedly benefitting from the dry climate all those years. This is the spec collectors are looking for, as it’s right-hand drive with the larger 3.8-litre straight-six, a manual gearbox and overdrive. It even has power steering, which has been rebuilt by a specialist in recent years.
The vendor has owned it since import and has carried out a great deal of mechanical work during their custodianship, refurbishing all the key systems and incorporating several sensible upgrades.
Subject to a recent service and ready to enjoy, this classic Jag awaits its second UK keeper.
