The Appeal
Finished in the very fetching colour combination of Sable over Sand, this Bentley S3 is a charming example of one of the marque’s most elegant mid-century designs.
This 1964 Saloon has clearly been cherished in recent years, having been resprayed at some point in the 2000s while in Ireland, followed by some expenditure on the mechanicals over the past few years.
Its largely original interior has survived really well and the exterior respray has weathered in nicely.

Now in need of a new home, this is a great opportunity to acquire a fine example of Bentley’s coveted S3.

The Interior
- Appears to be mostly original
- Beige leather
- Beautifully patinated
Presented in lovely patinated condition, the interior of this Bentley has aged very gracefully indeed and appears to be largely original.
The beige leather that adorns the seats and door panels has weathered in very nicely, displaying a pleasing level of patina but no excessive wear or significant damage we could discern.
The carpeting is certainly serviceable but shows its age in places. At some point, someone has fitted a modern radio in the lower portion of the dash, but apart from this and a couple of screw holes from past additions, it has survived admirably.
We love how the dashboard wears a smattering of patina around the switchgear, but is otherwise free from damage or cracking to the burr walnut veneers. The same goes for the door cappings and rear folding tables which look to be in very good order.

We understand that the headlining is clean and secure and the boot is in nice condition, containing a torch, all wheel changing tools and nearly all the hand tools.
The Exterior
- Sable over Sand
- Older respray weathering in nicely
While the car lived in Ireland for a time during the late 2000s and early 2010s, it was resprayed and is now resplendent in its two-tone colour scheme of Sable over Sand.
While there are now a few small marks around the car, the paintwork has weathered extremely well and is not showing any signs of deterioration that would concern us. This would suggest that the work was completed to a high standard and the bodywork underneath appears very straight and free from corrosion.
The chrome brightwork presents really well, with little in the way of pitting or scratches we could see. The wheels retain their Bentley hubcaps and are shod with period correct Avon tyres which were apparently fitted in 2015.
Overall, this is a particularly smart example of a steel bodied S3 saloon that wears just the right level of patination commensurate with age and gentle use.
The Mechanics
- 6.2-litre V8
- Major service and mechanical overhaul in 2015 including brakes, exhaust and suspension componentry

The 6.2-litre V8 engine beloved of Rolls-Royce and Bentley for many years runs well and provides ample torque to whisk this saloon bodied Bentley along almost effortlessly.
Having been overhauled, the brakes operate well and we understand that the car changes gear smoothly and handles well.
