The Appeal

Probably at the very top of every classic car enthusiast’s wish list, the Jaguar E-Type is just one of the most beautiful and iconic cars that has ever been built.
Designed with speed and performance in mind. Its powerful engine and lightweight construction made it a formidable sports car, capable of reaching top speeds of over 150 mph, with its sleek, aerodynamic lines, long bonnet, and distinctive curves making it instantly recognizable.
With only around 7,000 produced the Series 1 FHC is a relatively rare E-Type making it highly collectable and a sure-fire investment.

  • Engine stripped and rebuilt in 1995
  • Full body bare metal re-spray in Red
  • Imported to and registered in the UK in 2013
  • Further engine work and synchromesh gearbox fitted
  • New brakes and suspension
  • Certificate of authenticity from Jaguar
  • Many receipts for recent works
  • Historic vehicle
  • MOT and Road Tax exempt
  • V5c present showing 1 UK owner
  • 1 set of keys
  • Will come with 12 months MOT
Starting life in the USA this E-Type ended up being stored in the dry state of Texas from around 1975, where it sat until being purchased 20 years later and exported to Australia where it was stripped down to its last nut and bolt and comprehensively restored to a very high standard and converted to RHD.
On arrival in Australia the odometer read 56,000 miles and there’s no reason to suspect that the current indicated mileage of 62, 177 is not genuine.
Purchased and re-imported to the UK by its current owner in 2013, the engine was rebuilt again, this time re-grinding the crank, new pistons, bearings and camshafts and then re-building the engine with new seals and gaskets. The gearbox was replaced with a later synchromesh box but the original Moss box comes too.
Since its return to the UK the entire braking system from master cylinder to callipers, brake lines, discs and shoes have all been renewed along with all 4 shock absorbers, various suspension arms and bushes .

The Interior

  • Original black interior and seats
  • Excellent dashboard with all original instruments working
  • Classic wooden steering wheel
  • Lovely patina throughout
The black leather seats and carpets contrast very well with the Red bodywork and the cabin is a magical place to be, instantly captivating you with sheer elegance and style of the Jaguar’s interior.
Overall the original interior presents very well indeed, with the perfect patina of age evident throughout the surprisingly spacious cabin. Carpets, door cards and internal chrome handles are all very nice and the dashboard has no cracks or any other damage, the surrounds and glass of all the smiths gauges and dials are all good and all those work, along with all that fantastic array of centre dash switches.
The original radio is present and the rear luggage compartment is all carpeted and has nice and straight luggage strips with the spare wheel, jack and the all-important copper mallet to undo the chrome spinners, and a very nearly complete original toolkit, all stored neatly under the floor.

The Exterior

  • Excellent red acrylic lacquer paintwork
  • New wire wheels and Dunlop Sport radial tyres
  • Twin exhaust pipes
  • Triple wipers
  • Electric aerial
From whatever angle you look at any E-Type it looks stunning and this lovely early Red Fixed Head Coupe shows off its fabulous curves and lines to great advantage.
Having been extensively restored from the ground up the overall presentation of the car is quite simply excellent, with unmarked deep gloss Red paint bodywork, excellent chrome, and brand new wire wheels and tyres,
All the body panels and doors are nice and straight with good panel gaps all-round with only the external chrome showing its age in the smallest of places, otherwise it presents extremely well as the photographs detail very nicely.
Undersealed and treated early on the sills and chassis rails are all excellent and under the huge bonnet it’s about as good as it gets.
The car looks great from all angles and sits squarely and purposefully on the tarmac on its gleaming wire wheels and SP radial tyres.

The Mechanics

  • Genuine low mileage
  • 3.8 litre engine fully rebuilt in 2016
  • Recent new brake discs, pads, lines and callipers
  • New shock absorbers all round
  • Synchromesh gearbox
Treated to on-going fettling and attention to keep the car in excellent running order it is reported to start on the button and drive superbly. The engine pulls strongly and the four speed synchromesh gearbox changes up and down smoothly and precisely, with the brakes providing secure stopping power.
Mechanically excellent in all departments this E-Type is fully serviced, with all fresh fluids, oils, filters and plugs and is ready to be driven away and enjoyed to the maximum.

The Summary

Fabulous condition throughout this early Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe is a rare and beautiful E-Type, with matching numbers that is certainly going to be a fantastic car to own, cherish and spend many happy miles behind the wheel.
