The Appeal
Original offered at three times the price of the Jaguar Mark X, the Bentley S3 was just about the most exclusive British car of its era and even today, it radiates luxury and sophistication. Sharing its underpinnings with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, the Bentley was the rarer of the two, pitched as the more sporting model in homage to the brand's illustrious competition history.
Here we have a beautifully presented, unrestored 1963 example which benefits from copious expenditure during recent years. Featuring on an LP sleeve for the band 'Mother's Ruin' during the early 1980s, we're sure this car has plenty of stories to tell...
Its accompanied by a detailled ownership history record from day one, when it was supplied on 13th June 1963 by Jack Barclay. The Bentley was owned for many years by one of the UK’s largest chauffeur businesses, kept in first-class order as it could never be permitted to give problems when in service. The car therefore benefited from very regular careful use. The vendor has taken advantage of its superlative grand touring abilities, traveling between their homes in the UK and the Algarve in supreme luxury.
A number of sympathetic upgrades have been carried out including a high torque starter motor, halogen headlamps, solid state fuel pumps, electronic ignition, large capacity radiator, reversing camera, hazard warning lights and a modified oil filter housing for later screw-on filter.
For those seeking an exceedingly usable luxury classic, this impeccably preserved, well-sorted Bentley S3 is a compelling candidate.
