The Appeal

The Vespa is about as iconic as a scooter can get, and it's little wonder they're still clamoured for in such quantities. Their pressed steel bodies were as stylish as they were utilitarian. They weren't just an icon of the modernist subculture - they were a route to the road for hundreds of thousands of drivers, and are still synonymous with leisurely, easy scootering.

However, not all were strictly Italian. A substantial chunk of Vespas were assembled under licence, such as this one by Ateliers de construction de motorcycles et d'automobiles of Dijon. It's a handsome scooter loaded with period character.

We've been told that the bike's mechanics have been rebuilt and restored, and that this lovely patina'd scooter is fully ridable. As a result it makes for a highly characterful vehicle that's still more than capable of setting out on the road, with a certain level of Fallout or Mad Max aesthetic.

The History and Paperwork

  • Sadly we've been given very little info regarding this scooter's history
  • Built in 1962
  • Manufactured under licence by ACMA of Dijon, France
  • Currently based in Sweden
  • Some work has been completed including an engine rebuild, new speedometer and some other components
  • Indicates 0km post-speedometer replacement

The Condition

  • Fully prepared for the road, with original metalwork in very solid order
  • Wear and marks have been preserved to create a stylish post-apoc aesthetic
  • Highly original with what appears to be period saddlebags and a particularly kitschy sticker
  • Frontmost seat is worn, to fit with the scooter's aesthetic
  • Rear seat looks in good order
  • Spare wheel appears to be newly fitted
  • Appears to be carrying new tread rails
  • Odo/Speedo is newly fitted and period-accurate

The Mechanics

  • 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled two-stroke engine
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • The engine has been subject to repair and restoration
  • We understand that it's starting and driving exactly as it should
  • We've no reports of any mechanical issues
