The Appeal

The Mk2 needs no introduction, so we’ll get straight onto why this 1962 car is special. The gunmetal grey over burgundy leather combination is one of the loveliest for these cars, and this one is superbly presented.
That is the consequence of a 24-month restoration that was completed in 2019. The quality of the work is evident from the photos - enthusiasts will note the flush door fit and renewed glass seals. The car remains in very good order with the usual Mk2 check areas of sills, arches, door bottoms, panel edges and underside all presenting well.
The current keeper acquired the car in 2022 and has used it for regular long-distance UK tours, during which the car is said to have been utterly reliable. It benefits from various upgrades that make such trips - for which the Mk2 is perfectly suited - considerably easier. These include power steering, optional factory overdrive, electronic ignition and overhauled braking system.
It is a mark of the seller’s approach that the car has been submitted for regular MOTs despite this no longer being a legal requirement. Naturally it comes to market with a long MOT showing no advisories.
For enthusiasts of these original ‘super saloons’ this beautifully specified example must surely be on any buying shortlist.
The vendor tells us:
“It is an engaging, tactile, stimulating experience which involves the driver in a way no modern does. You become part of the car, and if intelligently handled it is rewarding at any speed.”
