The Appeal

When it hit the market in 1959, the 3000 immediately became the best-known of the 'Big Healeys'. A remarkable C-Series under the bonnet, practically perfect styling and a striking two tone livery - it was a brand image with the best of them, and these remarkable roadsters were soon racing in almost every international circuit going.

By 1961, BMC opted to revisit the car with some pertinent updates to maintain its supremacy. In came a trio of SU HS4 carbs, modified valve springs and a new camshaft. The new MK2 didn't reinvent the wheel - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! - But did re-energise the car ably. You could purchase it was the two-seater BN7, or this, the BT7 - which offered a pair of tiny jumper seats in the rear. We still think it's a bit cheeky to call it a four-seater (unless you have a pair of rhesus monkeys), but ours is not to reason why. Everything else is as close as you can get to pure motoring magic.

This 1962 car, picked out in a stunning black over ivory livery, comes to us with an impressive paperwork file, covering a comprehensive restoration undertaken in 2010 and plenty of other work besides. It's clearly been beautifully cared for, and is accompanied by its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a full record of ownership and a stock of MOTs - with the most recent one from only last year.

We've no doubt this fabulous example will garner plenty of attention.
