The Appeal

Following World War 2, there was one market practically every bike manufacturer was targeting - the USA. Triumph hit on a masterstroke of promotion when they took a Triumph streamliner, equipped with a hefty 650cc engine, onto the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1955. The result was a sparkling new speed record - but the press was the real benefit.

All of a sudden, the USA was obsessed with Triumph motorcycles - and the company had a blueprint for the newly-christened Bonneville, which released in 1959.

It was the T120 that hit the market first, and that original-format bike is still available in one form or another today. It's, put simply, one of the most iconic bikes in history - and is still highly in demand, not least for that distinguished, determined profile that differentiated the 'Bonnie' from its American counterparts.

Restored by the well-known classic motorbike restorer John Mossey about 10 years ago, this Bonneville has been meticulously maintained and hardly used since its restoration. Indeed, it appears to have covered only a whisker over 300 miles since 2009. With this in mind, the vendor reports that the 871 miles on the speedometer is accurate.

Beautifully presented, and cosseted as part of a collection, we're certain this bike will attract plenty of attention.
