The Appeal

The combination of its potent 500cc motor and remarkable featherbed frame pushed Norton to the front of the post-war bike wars. The firm pressed home its advantage by spinning off a growing range of models under the Dominator brand.
One of the most potent was the 88 Super Sport (SS). This 100mph machine utilised the firm’s improved slimline version of the featherbed frame together with higher compression and the camshaft set up from the 650 Manxman.
The 88 SS is a sporting yet very ridable classic Norton. This example was previously sold by the vendor and is back with them after recent investment in the suspension. A low mileage bike with just six owners from new it has clearly been cared for.
