The Appeal
First introduced in 1950, the Morgan Plus Four was a fixture for the Morgan Motor Company for decades, its endurance only adding to its appeal. With their modern hardware and nostalgic appearance, it’s little wonder that these capable roadsters continue to attract plenty of attention.
This 1961 has undergone a raft of upgrades over the past 8 years, fusing that classic aesthetic with an altogether more powerful, comfortable and reliable car.
The History and Paperwork

- Registered in Colorado in 1986
- It remained here there 1993, when it returned to the UK

- In 2014 the car was repainted into its current livery

- Chromework presents well with no significant faults
- No contrasting white wheel set
- Underside has been sealed and in excellent order
- Hood is free of rips and tears
- 55L plastic box included, mountable to the rear rack
- Interior has been retrimmed in black with new carpets
- Interior modifications include:
- Full electrical upgrades including Anderson socket and alternator
- USB & cigarette sockets
- Fan override switch
- 2-speed wipers
- Electric speedometer and odometer
- Column-mounted indicator and headlight dipper
- LED indicators and bulbs
- Smuggler’s boot mounted under the fuel tank
- 4-gauge ammeter is disconnected as a voltmeter is fitted

- Original Triumph engine, rebuilt, balanced, and enlarged to 2288cc
- Stage 2 head & fast road cam
- 5-speed Ford type 9 manual transmission

- Rebuilt steering box with new bearings
- TR6 clutch with concentric hydraulic slave cylinder
- Twin choke downdraft weber carbs
- Four-branch exhaust manifold
- Upgraded suspension with Spax shock absorbers
- Electric fuel pump & radiator fan override
- Uprated starter motor with new alternator and fuses
- Battery has been relocated to behind the seats with a 2-pole Anderson socket
- New brake servo
- Scuttle bar has been stiffened and cross-braced
- The vendor notes that all of this has led to significant improvements in performance
- Reportedly accelerates quickly and feels effortless on the motorway
- Car’s steering is substantially lighter than when built
- Braking is reportedly very good
- We’ve no reports of any mechanical issues, leaks, knocks or smoke
- Spare exhaust pipes, silencer, distributor, rocker cover & headlight/indicator switch assembly included in sale.
