The Appeal
The 4/4 was Morgan’s first four wheeled, four cylinder car. The ‘Four Seater Tourer’ - strictly speaking the 4/4/4 - was introduced to add extra versatility with a nominal rear bench for two passengers.
The car’s simple, rugged mechanicals and iconic vintage styling kept the 4/4 in production, little changed, for over 80 years. This lovely bright yellow car sits bang in the middle of that lengthy run. It is a 1961 four seater that has remained in the same family from new.
The car is now for sale due to bereavement. Regrettably, there is little history to document its life. We do know that it was restored by specialist Melvin Rutter in 1985, work that included fitting a new chassis.
Despite the lack of details, the condition is obvious from the photos. This is a very tidy, seemingly very original, low mileage Morgan rarity that is fitted with a 2L 4cyl engine. Morgans like this do not come to market often - after 64 years, we wish it well with its second keeper.
