1961 Jaguar MK2 3.8

Highlights

  • Rare example with manual transmission and overdrive
  • Imported from Zimbabwe in 2000
  • Full reconditioning undertaken upon import

The Appeal

The MK2 could be reasonably dubbed one of the cars that built Coventry's reputation for excellence. Beyond being an intensely elegant car, the Mark 2 was graceful, powerful and fast. It was a real home run for Jaguar, and has gone down as an utterly iconic classic that's as synonymous with the company as the E-Type.

This particular 1961 example was imported from Zimbabwe on the turn of the millennium, and has been comprehensively reconditioned for returning to the road - and is a particularly rare beast, with the overdrive-adjoined manual transmission and the very desirable 3.8L six-pot engine.

Couple that up with the car's handsome colour scheme, and this vehicle is a real treat. A little bit of work is required before it hits the road proper, but once that's done? You've got the perfect companion to roam the British network with all of the style of Morse.

Unfortunately the clutch needs bleeding. It is very high the pressure to find bite point very low. It does run and road worthy although no current MOT I would strongly suggest no it needs to be taken on a trailer
