The Appeal
Few marques have such a strong, loyal following as Volkswagen, most notably the air-cooled community, with millions of Type 1 ‘Beetle’ and Type 2 van fans all around the globe. There’s also a thriving customisation scene, with owners lowering their cars, upgrading the mechanicals and fitting popular aftermarket parts that first came out in ‘60s Southern California.
This 1960 Type 1 Beetle rocks the ‘SoCal’ look with conviction, having been lowered and fitted with period upgraded parts like Porsche-style ‘Fuchs’ wheels and an Empi short-shifter kit. The Beetle has undergone restoration work in the past and benefits from a fairly recent full respray in L41 Black.
The vendor tells us:
“I’ve been chasing this beetle for the past 10 years, and after many failed attempts, I ended up buying it. Its always been a pleasure seeing this beetle being taken care of by previous owners. It's now, unfortunately, time to part away as I've put my mind to something else.”
