The Appeal

Of the many stylish Cafe Racers, it was the Triton that ruled. Bringing together Triumph’s grunty 650 with Norton’s featherbed frame created a quick and nimble bike that was also comfortable for the long run from The Ace Cafe to Brighton.
Good examples are very collectable. And this is certainly one of those, a 1960 T150 with upgraded 750cc engine that has just been extensively restored by a well regarded specialist. It is amongst the best we’ve seen in a while.
The extensive rebuild neatly blends refreshment with originality, so some components show a light patina that adds further character to this charismatic bike. It has covered just 2 miles since a full engine rebuild during the restoration process, so will still need running in by the new keeper. Looking at this magnificent bike, that doesn’t feel like a chore at all.

The vendor writes:

"The 1960 Triton T150 is a legendary custom motorcycle that combines the best of both worlds - Norton and Triumph engineering. Built by blending a Triumph Bonneville T120 engine with a Norton featherbed frame, the Triton T150 became an iconic cafe racer of the 1960s. The powerful 750cc engine offered impressive performance, whilst the Featherbed frame, known for its superior handling and stability, made it a favourite amongst racers and motorcycle enthusiasts.

"The T150's sleek, minimalist design, with its low profile stance and custom detailing, made it a standout on the streets and race tracks alike. Today the 1960 Triton T150 is highly sought after by collectors for its historical significant in the cafe racer movement and its lasting influence on custom motorcycle culture.

"Riding the 1960 Triton T150 Triple Cafe Racer is an exhilarating experience for those who enjoy the feel of a vintage machine. It's a bike that demands engagement and skill, but rewards the rider with a unique, raw ride. The combination of its distinctive styling, thumping engine and the satisfaction of commanding a piece of motorcycling history make it an unforgettable machine for any vintage bike enthusiast.

"The 1960 Triton Triple Cafe Racer is an exciting, powerful and somewhat demanding ride. It offers a great deal of character and is perfect for those who appreciate classic motorcycles and the cafe racer culture, but it requires a level of respect for its vintage technology and design."
