The Appeal

Ferdinand Porsche’s drive to power the people wasn’t limited to cars and roads. Before the war he conceived his ‘Volk Schlepper,’ the people’s tractor that would subsequently get Germany’s farmers farming once hostilities ended.
The range of Porsche-designed tractors was produced from 1953 under licence by Allgaier and built by Mannesmann near Lake Constance in an old Zeppelin factory. They were hugely popular, particularly this model, the Junior 109 because they were well-designed, well-built and affordable.
The 109 was the more powerful of the Junior models. It's powered by an 875cc air-cooled, single-cylinder Bosch direct injection diesel engine with 15 horsepower.
This one is in superb condition thanks to a comprehensive and faithful restoration by the previous keeper. This work covered the cosmetics and bodywork as well as the mechanicals. The fuel pump and injector have been overhauled, gaskets replaced and new bearings and seals fitted. The electrical wiring and glow plug have also been replaced.
Delightful details abound, including original badging, correct wheels and a retrimmed seat with Porsche Diesel decals. It is said to be in excellent running order. It would make a fine addition to any agriculturally-themed collection or a perfect complement to a road-going Porsche for the enthusiast with some land to farm.
