The Appeal

We love this, and we think you will too. There is something very endearing about a 65-year-old commercial vehicle that is still busy working, still being put to the use it was originally built for.
This lovely 1960 1000 Pick Up was carefully restored by a previous keeper to do exactly that. As the Transport Manager for a brewery - is there a better job for a classic enthusiast? - he recognised the PR and practical potential of restoring this Moggy for local delivery duties.
The work was undertaken in the mid-Noughties, seven years after it returned to the UK from a life in California. It was previously burgundy but was restored in blue and black to suit the brewery colour scheme. The work included bodywork restoration, respray and mechanical overhaul. There are invoices in the thick history file for an engine rebuild and carburettor overhaul.
Since completion it has been used regularly but sparingly, covering around 6,000 miles. That brings to the buyer a tidy and reliable pick up that is ready to use. It still wears its brewery livery and there are some light cosmetic points to note. You could use it ‘as is’ or put it to work for your own commercial endeavours whilst gradually improving it. Naturally, it is MOT exempt, but for reassurance, there was a recent MOT in May 2023, which shows no advisories.

  • Bodywork appears very presentable but with some localised areas to note

  • This trim is well constructed but showing some delamination that buyer may wish to address

  • Chromework appears to be original or older restoration with some light tarnishing to note
  • Sits on painted black steel wheels in good condition with lightly aged chrome Morris hub caps
  • Glass and lights in good order with no obvious deterioration to report
  • Underside in good condition with no structural advisories on May 2023 MOT test
