The Appeal

Here at Car & Classic, we are enormous fans of Solihull's finest; we adore a Series Land Rover. Although, for all its merits, we must concede that performance isn't exactly these vehicles' strong point. Not this one, however...

Yes, besides that jolly paint scheme, roll frame and Weller wheels, this Series II's party trick is a 3.0-litre Essex V6. In standard tune, this engine produces 148 bhp compared to the Land Rover's original 77 bhp from its standard 2.25-litre inline-four. That's quite the difference and enough to make this 65-year-old car surprisingly usable. To make matters even better, the Land Rover also has overdrive and free-wheeling front hubs fitted.

This Series II has undergone extensive restoration over the past ten years and presents very well throughout. The vendor includes photographs of the restoration in progress to show the extent of the work. The vendor also adds that it's accompanied by an extensive history file.

We're informed that it's registered as a historic vehicle and, therefore, qualifies for MOT and road tax exemption. As a result, this unique Land Rover is reportedly ready to enjoy.

We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance.
