THE APPEAL

Introduced as the “the sportsman’s scooter”, the TV175 (series II) was manufactured from 1959 to 1961 and is very much a desirable scooter amongst enthusiastic devotees of the Italian brand.
Judging by the frame number, this beautiful example is a second generation TV series II and should therefore have a stronger factory frame and incorporates the later headset and headlight, a dual seat, and redesigned front brake drum and fork links. The oval horn grille is also a give-away.
The low-slung horizontal (second generation) Innocenti engine also had improved reliability and helped to propel sales of the scooter. Some 41,787 series II scooter’s were produced.
The classic flowing contours of the TV175 are a thing of beauty. Restored to a good standard, at least twelve years ago, the period light blue colour really suits it and the original factory details such as the wonderful Veglia speedometer and stylish badges are thankfully retained.

Looking at the first MOT Certificate from July 2001, we can see that this scooter was re-registered to AAS 384 in Bristol with a recorded mileage of just 0,002.
A statement from The Scooter Emporium, London, in August 2001, then confirms “payment on fully restored Lambretta…” and is accompanied by a note outlining running-in instructions.
It was purchased from Classic Scooters UK Ltd, Surrey, in November 2012 and subsequently moved to the south coast to reside with the last two previous owner’s.

SUMMARY

It really is great to see these early Scooters still bringing so much joy to their owner’s and perhaps even rekindling youthful memories.
Perfect as a collectors-piece, show bike or rider’s bike, this little slice of classic Italian design is bound to be admired wherever you go.
