The Appeal
If you're out shopping for Mk2 Jaguars, there are two things you really want to hear: The first is "3.8" - signifying the biggest engine. And the second is "MOD". No, not Ministry of Defence - they preferred Land Rovers... MOD means it's a manual with overdrive.
These 3.8-litre MOD cars are the quickest if the Mk2s and they're so sought after that many 3.8 MODs you see today started life with more lowly engines and gearboxes. This, however, is the real deal, a genuine Jaguar Mk2 3.8 MOD from 1960.
This car underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2021 which was documented in a series of photographs. The Indigo blue exterior paired with a red leather interior creates a visually stunning combination. Additionally, the car benefits from modern speed-sensitive electronic power steering fitted in 2022 - a clever system which is ultra-light for low-speed manoeuvring yet nicely weighted at speed. It also has electronic ignition, ensuring reliable starting and smooth running.
Complete with a heritage certificate proving its provenance and a large file of invoices documenting its history, this Jaguar Mk2 is a compelling choice.
