The Appeal
The Corvette is as American as apple pie. It all started with the sleek C1, which after a shaky start got the engines to match the looks. Of the many variations, a 327CI 5.4litre V8 with 4spd manual is the one aficionados look for.
Here is such a car. It went back to the factory in 1966 to be upgraded to the 5.4litre motor and 4spd manual. Finished in a classic red and white colour scheme following a restoration in 1993, it is in very good condition. It is usefully supplied with with a matching hard top.
The thick history file supports the sense of a cared for and sparingly used C1. An award for best Classic Corvette at Tatto Park underlines this impression. Lightly used since the current keeper bought it in 2016, this tidy, well-specified V8 is one of the best and most distinctive C1 we’ve seen in a while.
