1968 Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 "Osso di seppia"

Highlights

  • Only 61,680 kilometres from new
  • Recently repainted in the original aquamarine green colour
  • Rear axle and carburettors overhauled
  • Overhaul renewed in July 2023
  • A truly stunning Duetto 1600 true to original specification

The Attractions

Admiring the photos of this splendid Duetto, it is really hard to understand why buyers at the time did not appreciate its original 'cuttlebone' design with its characteristic tapered rear end. It was probably too unusual for the general public, which is why later versions adopted a more traditional design, making these early cars very rare and particularly sought-after.

This example stands out for its very special livery that makes it stand out from the more common red Duetto. The car was repainted a few years ago in its original colour scheme for the US market, where it was first sold. It was brought back to Italy a few years ago and was purchased by the current owner in 2013.

This beautiful Duetto seems to be in really good shape and completely faithful to the original specification: the only difference is the beautiful steering wheel with wooden crown in a classic design. And it is also a reliable and pleasant car to drive, thanks to a recent overhaul of the rear axle and carburettors.

The 1,600 cm³ engine is one of the liveliest and most brilliant versions of the classic twin-shaft Nord. In view of its low mileage and excellent condition, this is a classic Alfa that is really hard to resist.
