The most
The story of the Renault 4CV is worthy of a film in itself. During the Second World War, the Germans took control of the French car manufacturer and stipulated that no authorisation was granted for passenger or personal vehicles - only commercial and military vehicles.
Renault's intrepid designers were more than willing to go underground for a product they believed in - and with the secret blessing of Louis Renault himself, the model was ready for the market by the end of the war - with a little help from Ferdinand Porsche.
The resulting car was a beautiful piece of simple, effective engineering - affectionately known as the 'Quatre Pattes' by the French people, it overcame poor post-war sales to become one of the best-selling cars of its day; eventually achieving over 1 million sales in 14 years.
This charming example comes to us after a recent restoration, with much of that iconic mid-twentieth century character preserved and a corrosion-free subframe - both of which are sure to offer a wonderful prospect for any enthusiast.
