The Appeal

When it comes to the golden age of the Great British sports car, the MGA is arguably one of the most influential models out there. Introduced in 1955, this was something quite different to what the motoring public were used to. While older MG roadsters carried straight-faced, upright pre-war lines, the MGA boasted a streamlined body, the still rather fresh B-Series four-pot and a level of technical simplicity that made them easy to adopt.

As a result, the MGA set a blueprint for the future of MG's sports range. It quickly became a global smash hit, and at a time when the open-top sports car was a very anglocentric art, it set a brand new standard that would endure for decades.

This '59 example was originally based in Texas, and arrived on British soil at the turn of the millennium, whereon it was comprehensively restored and polished up to an excellent standard. Nearly 30 years later, it's a really rather fabulous, eminently drivable example.

Only 11,113 miles have been covered by this car since its rebuild, and thanks to its upgraded 5-speed transmission and a history of diligent maintenance, it's running better than it would have done from factory.

1. Is it the hi-gear conversion? 2. Is cylinder head lead free converted ? 3. What is oil pressure when hot at tickover and 2000rpm ?

1. Yes it is 2. No I use an additive 3. Great oil pressure around 20/40 on tickover and 2000 rpm around 80. The car was restored in 90’s Let me know if any other info needed.

Is there a spare wheel and tyre

Yes, the photo was left off so I have asked the photo to be added to the site. The car was brought in from Texas in 1990. Let me know if any other queries. Thanks
