1959 Lancia Appia Pininfarina Coupé Series II

Highlights

  • A particularly desirable coupé version designed by Pininfarina, like the car in the film 'Il Vigile' with Alberto Sordi
  • Stunning interior
  • Regularly maintained by the current owner

The Attractions

After introducing the Aurelia as its flagship model after the war, Lancia decided to replace its smallest and longest-lived model, the Ardea. Designed by Vittorio Jano, who also designed the Aurelia, the Lancia Appia was launched in 1953. It was equipped with an unusual 1,089 cm³ V4 engine, a configuration for which Lancia would become very famous in later years with the Fulvia.

Most Appias were produced with the practical and elegant Berlina bodywork, but we are pleased to offer a much rarer version: the stunning Pininfarina-designed Coupé. We are told that this stunning Lancia has had only three previous owners and has required very little work during its current ownership other than regular maintenance. Although the seller reports some minor imperfections and informs us that the car is in need of a new cylinder head gasket, this Lancia represents a very attractive opportunity for those looking for a car of great charm that requires very little simple attention.
