The Appeal
The Itom factory was founded in Turin in 1948 and began by making clip-on power units for bicycles and quickly progressed to manufacturing mopeds. A range of lightweight motorcycles soon followed with sporting 50cc versions fast becoming popular for competition use during the late 1950’s.
With 65cc on tap, the lively Tabor Sports (as we have here) offered even more sporting prowess from the single-cylinder, two-stroke engine and 3-speed in-unit gearbox.
This wonderful little Itom really looks the business finished in Italian racing red and gold. Restored a while ago, it still looks great with a mild degree of patina.
Bearing it’s original frame and engine numbers (and interestingly) supported by the first owner’s Hire Purchase Agreement, this U.K. bike has clearly seen little use and is definitely a highly collectable rarity.
