The Appeal

The post-war optimism of the 1950s led to some of the most outlandish automotive designs of the twentieth century, most of which originated across the Atlantic in the United States.
Echoing the American fashion of prominent tail fins, wrap-around windows and lashings of chrome, the Vauxhall Cresta PA looked like it had come from Los Angeles instead of Luton. Its powerful straight-six engine resulted in a near-90 mph top speed in 2,262 cc form, and the Cresta PA became a popular model - especially amongst so-called ‘teddy boys’.
Here we have an early ‘three-window’ example which has been refinished in a striking shade of pink. It’s been voluntarily MOT tested, in spite of its exemption so the next owner can be confident that it’s in good, safe order. Complete with a wealth of accompanying paperwork and superbly presented in readiness for sale, this Vauxhall is ready to enjoy.

The History and Paperwork

  • Early ‘three-window’ model - regarded by the vendor as “the Holy Grail of the Vauxhall PA Crestas”
  • Previously black
  • 17,471 miles indicated - the vendor assumes the odometer was replaced at some point in the past
  • The previous owner carried out an extensive restoration in around 2016 costing around £29,000
  • The car remained unused until early 2023 when the vendor purchased it and completed the small number of jobs remaining to finish the car
  • Voluntarily MOT tested on 12th July 2023
  • The car is still on it's original 1958 registration number

The Condition

  • The two-tone paintwork presents very well overall and continues to shine brightly
  • Smart chrome trim with minimal signs of pitting
  • The large American-style rear light lenses appear in very good order
  • The bodywork appears straight and solid overall
  • There are a few small signs of surface corrosion and various small blemishes - but certainly nothing especially noticeable
  • All four whitewall tyres appear clean and in good condition
  • Straight and solid-looking underside
  • The car underwent a complete re-trim at time of restoration: seats , carpets, door cards, headlining
  • The vendor has recently had the dashboard top re-covered
  • No notable wear to the upholstery and controls
  • We understand all the cabin electrics to be in good working order

The Mechanics

  • 2,262 cc straight-six petrol engine
  • Three-speed manual gearbox
  • The previous owner had the engine rebuilt and completed a full mechanical overall
  • The vendor has recently fitted a manual choke and a new battery
  • We’re informed that the Vauxhall drives nicely and has good brakes
