THE APPEAL

The Triumph TR3, launched in 1955 to replace  the TR2, Triumph's first post-war sports spider, improved its performance and evolved its style, introducing a larger grille, flush with the bodywork rather than deeply recessed and a nice optional hard-top and, starting from 1956, front disc brakes.
Like its predecessor, it largely used existing components, with a two-litre engine derived from the Standard Vanguard and modified suspension from the Triumph Mayflower.
In 1957, an upgraded version was introduced, today identified as the TR3A, with a full-width front grille, external door handles and a lockable boot handle.
This 1958 TR3A, originally sold in the United States, the most important market for Triumph sports cars, was imported into Italy in 1970 and has remained in the hands of its passionate owner ever since.
Completely restored about ten years ago by a well-known specialist, since then it has been driven very rarely for classic cars gatherings and has always been garage stored and maintained with the utmost care.
It comes with its rare original hard top and the removable side windows kit that complements the soft top.

The Triumph TR3s are among the most classic and admired English sports cars, with brilliant and exciting driving, made even more engaging by their unique style, which complements the driving experience.
The low doors, padded at the top, guarantee perfect support for the elbows and, in combination with the delicate chrome-framed windscreen, put the driver in an intimate connection with the surrounding environment that couldn't be experienced with any other car.
The brilliant performance offered by the lively engine, aided by the lightness of the car and the excellent brakes make them extremely fun to drive and capable of keeping up with modern traffic.

Characterized by a bodywork in really good condition with the unmistakable faired headlights, a very charming interior upholstered in high quality black leather and with mechanics expertly restored and maintained with great care, this TR3A, equipped with the coveted and rare hard-top which makes it even more versatile, represents an interesting opportunity to experience a truly different and unique, exciting and engaging idea of driving, behind the wheel of a highly fascinating, reliable and well-tuned car.

This TR3A was completely restored about ten years ago. The high-level restoration was commissioned by its long-time owner and carried out by well-known specialists.

The cabin of this Triumph is therefore in very good condition, with comfortable seats and door panels reupholstered in black leather with white piping.
A small rear seat can accommodate an additional passenger or luggage.
Framed by the beautiful original "banjo" steering wheel with three metal spokes, the black vinyl dashboard houses a large circular Jaeger 200 km/h speedometer and a rev counter with chrome-plated frames in excellent condition in front of the driver,
In the center of the dashboard, there are indicators for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level and amperage, all working and in good condition, as well as warning lights and knobs for ancillary services.
The upper part of the dashboard shows no fading or scratches, as do the nice leather doorcaps.
The black soft top with soft top cover is efficient and intact and the useful, rare and much sought after optional hard top in body colour is also provided.
All surfaces are in good condition, free of scratches or discolouration, with shiny brightwork and clean, very pleasant carpets and mats.

During the restoration, the bodywork was completely disassembled and sandblasted before being repainted in the original brilliant Signal Red.
Distinguished by the characteristic half doors, which make the driving experience unique and engaging, the TR3 has a very fascinating design, which made it extremely desired when new and which today gives it an original and unmistakable appearance.
Its design, halfway between a 1940s racing barchetta and a sophisticated fifties grand tourer in the style of the Jaguar XK120, is full of elements of great charm, like the thin chrome line that runs along the sides, starting from the wraparound front fenders and continuing up to the elongated and receding rear fenders, the famous protruding headlights, the small chrome rear bumpers, the peculiar fender guards, the sporty half-doors and the slanted chrome-framed windscreen.
All the brightwork, lettering and badges are in excellent condition, as is the black soft top, with transparent and efficient removable windows and soft top cover and the rare hard top in bodywork colour, an important addition for this car.
The underbody is in very good condition, with a restored chassis covered with protective paint and slight localized traces of oxidation.

During the restoration, the engine has been disassembled and rectified.
All the mechanics have been thoroughly overhauled with the replacement of many components and have been consistently maintained thereafter.
The seller assures that the car is in excellent condition and in perfect working order.

SUMMARY

The TR3 is a traditional roadster, which has improved in many respects the previous TR2, offering more power and modern brakes.
Since 1957, the TR3A has introduced further improvements, enriching the equipment and refining the mechanics of the first series and enjoying great sales success.
With an exciting and sporty drive and excellent performance, which have made it successfull in amateur racing for many years, unlike modern cars the TR3 is not isolated from the outside world, but puts the driver and the car in direct relationship with the surrounding environment, with a completely different and fascinating approach to driving, full of unique and unparalleled emotions.
This TR3A, expertly restored and always preserved with great care and love by its long-time owner, well equipped and with reliable mechanics, will allow its next owner to experience the inimitable driving pleasure of a pure and original English sports car of great historical importance.
