The Appeal

The MGA represented a quantum leap in MG's sports car design, a game-changer in the late 50s, setting a new standard for affordable sports cars. In comparison, the outgoing TF looked unmistakably pre-war when it came to styling and the MGA's performance was suitably up-to-date too, with near 100 mph capability from the outset.

This particular example, with its striking red paintwork and matching interior, was meticulously restored in the 1990s and has been maintained very well ever since. Paying tribute to MG's success in rallying, it's been prepared to look every bit like a '50s rally car and has been upgraded mechanically to match.

The Condition

• We adore the rally-inspired appointments which really capture that late-'50s zeitgeist 
• Period rally plaque affixed to the grille and a Le Mans plaque adorns the dashboard
• Moto-Lita sports steering wheel
• Lightly patinated inside and out, making this a supremely usable example
  The underside looks in excellent condition, with no signs of excessive corrosion or damage
• The paintwork has a few minor imperfections, but certainly nothing severe
• Equipped with refurbished, powder-coated wire wheels shod with new tyres
