The Appeal
From its humble beginnings the Citroën 2CV has certainly gained cult status, and here is a rarely found Slough UK built model that has been the subject of a ground up restoration in recent years that is about 80% complete.
It’s a matching numbers car that has been stripped right back to its chassis and rebuilt with new floors, new panels and a bare metal respray in its original Air Force Petrol Blue, and now, due to an unforeseen loss of storage and workspace, the nearly complete project is up for auction.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered in 1956
- V5c present
- MOT and tax exempt
- Many MOT certificates up until 1979
- Mileage in excess of 52,000*
- Bought by the current owner in 2015 as a project car from the Isle of Man
- Restored over the past 7 years
- Rebuild is 80% complete with all parts included (except the front bumper)
The Interior
- All new floors
- Seat frames, steering column and steering wheel all powder coated
- Seat frames re-trimmed in brown hand-stitched buffalo hide at a cost of c.£3,000
- Windows, seals and door cards all need fitting
- Original suicide doors
- Features a full-roll hood
The Exterior
- The chassis and bulkhead are from the Slough 2CV, and the rear inner wings and valence were replaced with old stock items from a French 2CV
- The front and rear wings are all new and the suicide doors are all original
- Full bare metal respray in original colour
- Bodywork is 95% complete
- Original Slough badge present
- Original wheels powder coated and fitted with correct period Michelin tyres with inner tubes
- Original lights and semaphore indicators
- Slightly longer headlight bars
- All external trim available except for the front bumper
- Rear boot-lid was missing so a new full-roll roof has been made and fitted
The Mechanics
- 425cc original air-cooled flat-twin engine
- Ideal for a 602cc or BMW conversion
- New oil cooler fitted
- Engine serviced and starts and runs
- New wiring loom supplied but needs installing giving the next owner the chance to upgrade the electrics from 6v to 12v
- 95% of parts are available including the spitfire light and the speedo in MPH
- The electrics un-started though a new loom is included, brakes and mechanical recommissioning required
