The Appeal

Hailing from the golden era of British motorcycle production during which the likes of Triumph, BSA, Norton and Royal Enfield were market leaders, export was the key to sales success. British bikes proved especially popular in the US, where riders demanded high performance. Royal Enfield developed the Super Meteor especially for American riders, creating a 692cc twin using a modified 500cc crankcase with 350cc (single) pistons from the Bullet model.

This 1956 example was originally supplied to Paris, later making its way back to the UK where it would languish for some years in a barn along with several other motorcycles, all in a state of disrepair. After verifying the Enfield's provenance with the Police and Owners' Club, the bike underwent comprehensive restoration to this amazing standard at considerable expense.

Offered in beautiful condition and reportedly riding very well indeed, this rare and sought after model would be a superb addition to any collection of classic British bikes. It's exempt from road tax/MOT and ready to ride.
