1956 Aerocaproni Capriolo Sport 75 Mita

Highlights

・Authentic factory racer
・Comprehensively restored
・Fantastic attention to detail

The Background

Caproni had been founded in the 1900's as an aircraft manufacturer and began motorcycle production after World War Two. One of their first models was the Capriolo 75, notable for its use of a pressed-metal frame and a 'face cam' engine. It also featured a longitudinal crankshaft, rather than the conventional transverse layout.
Sports versions won their class in the 1954 Milan-Taranto and 1955 Giro Motociclistico d'Italia

The History

This stunning example of a very rare little bike was recently prepared to be ridden in the Milano to Taranto 2020 which was subsequently cancelled due to the pandemic.
The bike was last run in 2020
This bike was part of the Bassi Collection from Northern Italy.

The Paperwork

The bike comes with some original Italian paperwork from 1956, the current V5c and two forms of authenticity. A letter from the East Anglian CycleMotor club declaring the bike is present and correct and a certificate from the Old Italian Bike Register confirming the same.

Condition

As you will see from the images , this Italian beauty is in fine fettle. It would appear to have had a comprehensive restoration at some point and has been kept to a fine standard ever since.
From the deep red paintwork , to the very shiny chrome work this bike wants for nothing.

The Mechanics

The bike has not been run since 2020 when it was prepared for the Milano to Taranto 2020.
That said, the bike is in fine condition and has been impeccably kept.

The Appeal

Rare Italian bike, racing history, comprehensive restoration and letters of authenticity to back up its heritage.
It’s a stunner for this little bike and it's almost a shame that it's been locked up in a private collection and not used but understandably it's very precious.
The styling of these classic Italian bikes is fantastic, and it would be an absolute head turner on the road or parked in a concourse show.
Who wouldn’t want to own something as special as that.
