The Appeal
The first series of the Land Rover is undeniably a milestone for not only The Rover Company, but arguably for the UK as a whole. The rugged, utilitarian wagon was destined for farm and light industrial use, and was soon a common sight roaming the green and pleasant lands in their droves - a regular go-anywhere vehicle. The epitome of their success was simplicity and easy maintenance - and they quickly became a pop culture icon in kind.
624 UXT, the superb 1956 example standing before us, has been family-owned for the last 25 years - and has clearly been cherished. It's recently seen a full restoration, carried out by CKD Shop of Southam, and now comes to us in simply superb order, sympathetic to its origins, maintaining a working appearance, while being bright and nicely-presented.
The engine is backed with a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty from TVR power, the dashboard has been fully rebuilt and the entire vehicle has been rewired - put simply, this is not your ordinary Land Rover, and is running just as well - if not better - than it would have out of the factory nearly seventy years ago.
