The Attractions

After the Second World War, car manufacturers gradually began to adopt monocoque construction and to produce the bodies in their own factories, no longer offering their customers the possibility of buying only the chassis at the factory, to be entrusted later to one of the many prestigious coachbuilders to have it upholstered according to the owner's wishes.
In Italy, the tradition of coachbuilding lasted much longer, even though monocoque construction was gaining ground here too. We are particularly pleased and truly honoured to present this Fiat 1100 TV Coupé built by Pinin Farina (later Pininfarina). Handmade in steel and aluminium, the TV (Turismo Veloce) Coupé was unveiled at the 1953 Paris Motor Show, and it is believed that only 780 examples were produced.
This example belongs to the first series and is finished in an elegant light blue metallic shade with an interior upholstered in cream fabric and blue leather. It was restored to a high standard in 2020 and has since collected numerous prizes and awards at various prestigious events. The car is accompanied by its registration papers, ASI passport, a framed certificate relating to the Salon Classic 2018, a tool roll, a spare wheel and a collection of books and magazines.
This splendid car would enrich any classic car collection, as well as being a wonderful companion for fantastic weekend trips and an excellent candidate for participating in historic rallies such as the prestigious Mille Miglia, the Modena Cento Ore and the Gran Premio Nuvolari.

  • Storage pockets in the doors
In Pinin Farina's factories, the bodies of these cars were handmade in steel, while the doors, bonnet and boot lid were made of aluminium. Being a pre-1955 model, this car does not have a panoramic rear window, allowing it to be identified at first glance as an early model. This car is full of precious details of great charm; the acetate trim inside the passenger compartment is particularly fine.
This Fiat was restored in 2020 and is in splendid shape, with very few signs of wear to report. A few minor imperfections and traces of wear can be seen in the photographs, but these are nothing particularly noticeable.

Mechanics

  • Fiat in-line four-cylinder 1.1-litre engine that delivers 50 horsepower
  • Weber carburettor
  • Four-speed manual gearbox
As its name suggests, the TV Coupé uses the standard mechanicals of the regular Fiat Turismo Veloce. Obviously, this car stands out more for its unique styling than for its speed performance, but the TV Coupé at the time took part in motor racing, competing among other things in the Orbassano 6 Hour Cup, in which Umberto Agnelli participated in 1954. We have been informed that this car is entered in the Mille Miglia, the Modena Cento Ore and the Gran Premio Nuvolari, as well as numerous other coveted and prestigious events.
