The Appeal
If the Hudson Hornet was the stock car king - and history seems to agree on the matter - then the Twin-H setup, introduced as an option in 1952, and made into standard equipment in 1953, was its crown. With dual single-barrel carburettors atop a dual-intake manifold, the car was track-ready the moment it rolled out of the factory. 170 hp was the result, which combined with the car's superb centre of gravity to create a highly potent car.
The result was a true stock car legend - Hudson won 27 of the 34 NASCAR Grand National in 1952, followed by 22 wins from 37 in 1953, and 17 of 1954's 34 races. For a car that was primed for the more upmarket side of life, that was an utterly remarkable achievement
This 1953 Twin-H Hornet is a great ambassador for what made these cars such spectacular pieces of engineering. Those lines are practically era-defining, the performance is still more than capable of raising the eyebrows of a modern motorist, and that fanciful cabin is loaded with period charm.
Subject to recent mechanical work, it's a fine, patina'd example that's ready and waiting for its new owner. Everything here is true fifties standard, and whether you decide to bring it up to snuff for your local car show, or fancy it as a very characterful (and unusual) classic driver, this is the perfect opportunity.
