The Appeal
In the middle of the 20th century, Riley were very much the prestigious choice for cars of distinction. They were loaded with class and presence, carrying a certain pre-war milieu throughout much of the brand's existence. The RM series was very much the brand's calling card - a big, sweeping, imposing limousine that felt like it belonged in a gentleman's parlour as much as it did his garage.
The RMD was the car's cabriolet iteration - produced for only two years and in an intensely limited volume. Only 502 of these ever rolled off of the Abingdon production line. While they've never gained the reputation of their contemporary rivals, it's more the pity. These luxurious cars are truly remarkable pieces of post-war British glamour.

This 1951 example, with its attractive black and cream colour scheme has clearly been very well cared for. Throughout its life, this beautiful classic car has been stored in a heated, de-humidified garage, and will no doubt get plenty of attention on the road.
