The Appeal

The 7R was AJS’s ace. Nicknamed the ‘boy racer’ this light, powerful and stylish bike quickly became one of the era’s most successful ‘over the counter’ racers. It remains dominant on the vintage racing scene.
In the hands of indomitable Essex electrician Den Jarman, this 1951 7R was campaigned regularly on the Isle of Man TT between 1958 and 1961, achieving regular finishes in the Junior race.
The vendor acquired this bike at a classic auction in October 2016 after it had spent 51 years with the previous keeper. It is in beautiful condition, exhibiting all the reasons why these capable bikes are as beloved as design objects as potent competition machines.
Whether preserved as the former or enjoyed as the latter, this is a much-historied bike that will grace any collection.
