Strong alternative to more common post-war saloons
Huge history file and known to Register
The Appeal
‘Majestic’ is surely the first word that comes to mind when looking at this Sunbeam-Talbot 90. Rootes stylist Ted White cleverly incorporated some classic marque features like the pillarless rear windows and reverse slope rear window to create a very stylish alternative to more humdrum family fayre. These strong cars were also popular rally entrants, with 90s being driven by illustrious pilots like Haworth and Moss.
Lined up against common models from the BMC stable, this 90 would surely stand out at any show. It is a Mk1 with the robust 1,944cc 64bhp and is well known to the model register. It was restored around eight years ago and continues to look resplendent in metallic pearl with a red interior.
Inside and out it is factory standard and very well kept. The mechanicals are in similar order, recent work in 2024 to the cooling system and brakes - to the tune of £2,300 - means that it runs very well and reportedly without issues.
Distinctive and practical, the 90 is one of the most interesting cars of the immediate post-war years. This one looks ready to enjoy.
