The Appeal

Amidst its hugely popular two-seaters, it is often forgotten that MG also built a run of very successful pre-war sporting saloons. They continued after the war too, giving family buyers cars like this pretty YA.
The Y-Type was devised in 1939 but customers had to wait until 1947 to buy one. Only 6,131 YAs like this one were built, compact four doors with the engineering of the firm’s sports cars including the peppy XPAG 1,250cc 46bhp engine. Today only a handful remain on UK roads.
That makes this lovely 1950 survivor rare. Finished in attractive Autumn Red, it is an older restoration that has been loved and carefully maintained by its owners, as the thick history file attests. There is evidence of lots of recent maintenance, including regular servicing, and it comes with the useful reassurance of a long , advisory-free MOT.
As usable as it is attractive, this MG will surely be a talking point wherever it is displayed.
